'We have no right to the standard of living we have. It can disappear as fast as it came." Roy Singham, CEO of Thoughtworks, an international software consultancy added, "When you're in college drinking beer and watching the Super Bowl, your counterpart in China is on his fourth book."

How many business rules does this break?

1. Know your market. Obviously they don't know we aren't exactly supportive of offshoring to India.
2. Don't spam.
3. Don't assume your clients are men. It's insulting in the Modern Age.
4. Don't ask for "suggestions and technical know how" unless you are willing to pay for it. Free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
5. Don't use bad grammar or misspellings. Unless you are ee Cummings, never begin a sentence in lowercase.

This is a company Corporate America would do business with?

The CEOs are the problem. If you want more American engineers then pay us more and make sure we can have some job security. That is how the free market works but American CEOs don't believe in the free market. They only believe in what can raise their quarterly bottom line. If that means offshoring American jobs or replacing Americans with H-1b workers or as far as I'm concerned, pimping their own children, then they will do it. American parents and their children get it. They know that majoring in science and engineering is a quick road to unemployment. I was once a software engineer before I was replaced by an H-1b. No American software engineer that I know, and I know many, would encourage their children to major in engineering. - jgm)

Coming and Going As offshoring evolves, Indian firms even hire Americans

By Richard J. Newman
US News and World Report

It doesn't take an economics degree to conclude that one of the main U.S. exports of the 21st century is likely to be jobs. And by many accounts, India is at the head of the receiving line. Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates recently announced that the software giant will nearly double its workforce in India, to 7,000, and invest $1.7 billion there. IBM has added at least 10,000 Indian workers this year and could employ more than 50,000 Indians by the end of 2006. Accenture, EDS, and other consulting firms are following close behind. By 2015, 3.3 million jobs will have been sent overseas, accord-ing to Forrester Research. As the offshoring trend matures, U.S. firms will contract out increasing amounts of white-collar work like accounting, drug research, technical R&D, and even cartoon animation.

Globalization "American corporate inefficiency – boom for India’s outsourcing sector - TCS to hire 8,000, wins $40 mn US deal

Babu Ghanta
Jan. 12, 2006

American corporate inefficiencies need massive shift of jobs to india to save money. When one cannot increase revenue and have bad management, the choices are limited to opt for lower quality serices from India for almost no money!

This provides boom for Indian outsourcing sectors.

According to media reports, Tata Consultancy Services, India's largest software services exporter, said on Thursday, it would add a gross 8,000 employees in the three months to March 2006. It has won a $40-million multi-year deal from a US consumer goods firm in its fiscal third-quarter to end-December.

The company said 3,500 employees would be directly recruited, while the remaining would come through acquisitions.

Shares in TCS, which reported a 3.5 per cent rise in quarterly earnings to Rs 7.32 billion, rose 0.6 per cent to Rs 1,681 in a weak Mumbai market. "

And in a November survey of 4,000 U.S. engineers, 64% said outsourcing makes them worry about the profession's future, while less than 10% feel sure America will maintain its leadership in technology.

General Motors Corp. announced in late November 2005 that it will close 9 of its United States auto manufacturing plants as well as three assembly-related plants which includes one location in Canada. Ford Motor Co. followed suit in early December 2005 announcing it is considering the shutdown of up to 8 of its U.S. manufacturing plants, including engine and assembly operations, with one in Mexico. Americans are well familiar with the downsizing, outsourcing and offshoring of the U.S. manufacturing base which has seen 2/3 of its jobs lost in the past 20 years, having been traded in for third world cheap labor.
